The world of automotive sports is one that many people can view as not your typical rough house sport. Nascar, formula 1, Monster Jam are some of the sports that spark interest to me and people of all ages. One that many can talk about from their childhood would be the big Monster Truck. Monster Jam is the consider the major league for most truck drivers.
The competition starts off with racing, depending on the course it will a full oval, in which each truck starts on each section of track. Once the lights turn green, the truck floors it down and have 3 jumps around the course to complete the race. As the driver completes the course moving up the rank, the competition get tougher and tougher for the new guys. Fan favorites and truck legends like Grave Digger, and Max-D not only warm the hearts of the fans but also the judges. In the final round of racing goes under way, it is not only an excitement for us fans, for but the driver as well. The pressure of knowing after winning this race you can qualify for a double down trophy but can be moved up the ranks to compete in the world finals.
It’s not all about the racing, we cannot forget about the freestyle event. Freestyle is when the drivers gets to show off their creativity, talent, and truck durability. Drivers attempt to complete, backflips, donuts, the biggest jumps, combos, and more. It sounds easier to a regular driver, but the talent it takes to keep a big truck on all four wheels while leaping in the air is amazing. Each driver has 2 minutes to impress the judges for a score out of 30. After those 2 minutes are up, the driver will have additional 30 seconds to then impress the bonus Judge. That bonus round can make or break a competitor from receiving the win.
