After back to back weeks of looking lost on the gridiron, the Guardians returned home to get back in the win column. They are now 2-2 on the year, with both wins coming at the home base. The visiting Wildcats fell to 1-3.
With starting QB Matt McGloin unavailable in week 4 due to injury, Luis Perez, he who is famous for learning the position by watching YouTube, stepped in and led the team. Perez finished 18-26 for 150 yards and a TD. He may have had another late in the game, had it not been for a bad drop by receiver Mekale McKay. All wasn't lost on the day for McKay, who did have the lone TD reception for New York for 3 yards.
The other hero was the right foot of kicker Matt McCrane. The Guardians kicker hit three important field goals, the longest of which for 51 yards. The other two, 23 and 47, helped seal the deal for New York.
On the defensive side, cornerback Jamar Summers had a tipped ball go his way, leading to the lone turnover for New York.
The Guardians will look to get their first taste of victory away from MetLife, when they travel to Dallas to start a whole new Dallas versus New York football rivalry on Saturday when the face the Renegades.
