Quiet Week for Yankees

There has been a glaring lack of news in and around the game of baseball lately due to the league wide coronavirus shutdown. The New York Yankees had a couple stories break this past week though as another Yankee minor leaguer tested positive for COVID-19. There have been no report on the potential exposure these two players may have had with others in the organization so proper precautions are being taken to make sure the virus does not continue to spread throughout the organization. Many members of the team have been staying in Tampa Bay and haven’t returned home to New York yet as New York City remains the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak on the east coast. All non-essential businesses have been shut down and it has been advised that people stay at home as much as possible. At this time it is in the best interest of the team to get everyone tested and to avoid coming back to the city for a little while longer.

The Yankees did also receive some good news this week as Aaron Judge will not have to receive surgery for his rib injury and collapsed lung. An injury that would have made him start the season on the injured list has now been downgraded in large part to the beginning of the season being pushed back potentially until June. Judge still will have to be monitored carefully to ensure a full recovery so that the team does not face the same demons it has in past seasons. Since surgery will not be needed Judge can be expected along with teammate Giancarlo Stanton to be ready for opening day whenever that might be.
