The Guardians (3-2) are above the .500 mark once again.
Looking for their first win on the road as a franchise, the Guardians traveled to Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and beat the Renegades (2-3) 30-12.
The first half was all about the kickers. Matt McCrane of New York, and Austin MacGinnis matched each other, leading to a halftime score of 6-6.
The second half, however, was a field trip to to the fireworks factory for the Guards.
Backup QB Marquise Williams got the party started with a one yard touchdown run and it was off to the races. Starting quarterback Luis Perez, who finished the game 16-30 with 229 yards, a TD and an INT, hit receiver Colby Pearson for an 80 yard score.
The defense got in on the scoring party as well. Ryan Mueller intercepted Phillip Nelson for a 33 yard pick six, which put New York up 26-6.
It wasn't a great showing for Nelson, who was in for the injured Landry Jones. Nelson looked lost at times, and finished with a 50.6 QBR, and 2 interceptions.
There was a small spark for Dallas when Austin Walter returned a kickoff for a score. However, it was far too little, too late.
The Guardians will head back home on Saturday, March 14 to face the only undefeated team in the XFL, the Houston Roughnecks at 2 pm.
